Byroses Family Q&A: Ben
Our Byroses Family grew even further this year as welcome many new customers from far and wide. One of these was Ben from Switzerland who invested in our Quentin backless shirt in navy and our Whitman wide leg trousers in Petrol.
Ben arranged some wonderful photographs of himself in the look and we loved them so much we wanted to showcase them here, alongside some words by Ben about how he found us and why he chose our pieces.
How did you find out about Byroses?
I’m pretty sure I stumbled upon it a while back on Instagram. Maybe it was an ad, maybe one of the brand’s posts popped up on my explore page, I don’t really recall. But what I do recall is that it caught my attention with the uniqueness of the pieces presented and the very clean photoshoots.
What did you think when you first saw the pieces?
I live in Switzerland, so the clothing trends are a bit… conservative here. I already dress out of the norms by bleaching my hair platinum blond and putting on a long red wool coat, with a street style cross-body bag, and an earring. But nonetheless I’m always on the lookout for original pieces, which are most frequently created by small designers or brands (outside of Switzerland hahah). My ideal style is chic, ample clothing combined with a touch of street style from time to time. I do love clothing that has beautiful movement to it.
What I saw when I first stumbled upon Byroses is a very ethereal world, with pieces I only really saw in movies or some fashion shows. The floaty fabric, the satin, the ample sleeves, the backless shirts. Those are all things I only rarely see here in my daily life.
I also learned that each piece is handmade and made to order, which adds to the authenticity of the craftsmanship, and justifies the price point. Each piece seems unique in some way.
Which pieces did you buy and how did they make you feel?
I bought the Quentin Backelss Shirt in navy, and the Whitman Trousers in petrol. Both are a beautiful variant of blue and they go perfectly well together.
The pants are the most wide around the legs I own yet, and the crepe-like material feels heavy (in the good way), and the whole piece is very floaty in movement.
The silky backless shirt is very elegant and soft to the touch. Both pieces are extremely comfortable, and in opposition with the pants, the shirt feels very lightweight. It also looks beautiful in motion. What I really like doing to add to the beauty of it all is to wear a pendant/necklace that I put in the back instead of the front. It lands perfectly in the center of the hole in the back and embellishes the naked skin
What occasion did you buy them for ?
I initially bought the two pieces for my birthday party this year in the summer. I wanted to be well dressed and elegant but not too “formally” well dressed, I wanted my outfit to be aerial and not be too hot for the weather.
I was extremely pleased with the end result (and got loads of compliments on it as well), but I liked this outfit so much that I ended up using it for a whole photoshoot a few weeks after. I do portrait and self portrait photography (so as a photographer and model), and the pieces looked amazingly good on picture, in inside environments as in exteriors.
Is therea nything else you want to add?
I’m a university student at the moment so I cannot yet afford to have a full wardrobe made of beautiful handmade clothes. But what I can say is that I already have my eyes on other pieces from this collection, and I’ll be on the lookout for the new ones coming in the future.
Oh and besides, the customer service is adorable and that adds to the whole experience of the brand for new customers.
Thanks again to Ben to taking the time to answer our questions and send in these beautiful photographs! If you would like to share your story email sayhi@byroses.com, we would love to hear from you!
